Tszyu vs Inoue Fight

Aussie boxing star Tim Tszyu and worldwide megastar Conor McGregor headline 2 must-watch events this July.

Undefeated Australian boxer Tim Tszyu continues his quest for a world title in Newcastle on 7 July against last-minute replacement, Steve Spark. Original opponent Michael Zerafa pulled out a week before the bout, with the likeable Spark agreeing to step in.

Then on 11 July AEST, Conor McGregor will chase redemption once more when he steps back into the Octagon. Dubbed “the final chapter”, McGregor will face Dustin Poirier for a third time.

In a great result for Australian fans of combat sports, both enormous events can be accessed via Main Event and also through Kayo Sports.

Tszyu vs Spark is being held at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre – dubbed the Tszyucastle Entertainment Centre such is Tszyu’s popularity in the city – and it sold out within minutes when tickets went on sale.

Tszyu is putting his 18-0 record on the line against 24-year-old compatriot Spark. Hailing from Toowoomba in Queensland, Spark holds a 12-1 record with 11 knockouts to date. He fought on the undercard of Paul Gallen’s recent defeat to Justis Huni, with Spark defeating Jack Brubaker in a unanimous decision.

McGregor, now 32, is headlining UFC 264 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The Irishman has proven time and again the hype surrounding him is indeed real. Now he needs to do it again or risk his glittering career fading out.

Poirier won their last encounter in a round 2 knockout at UFC 257 on Fight Island in January. It was the first knockout defeat of McGregor’s career. “The Notorious” had won the first match between the pair in 1 minute, 46 seconds back in 2014.

The third instalment will be held in front of a capacity crowd of 20,000 fans starved for action during the coronavirus pandemic. McGregor has promised his fans there’ll be “no more Mr Nice Guy” against Poirier, who McGregor recently labelled an “inbred hillbilly” on Twitter.
